Job summary

YMCA of South Alabama is seeking a Maintenance and Facilities Director to lead maintenance across four branches. The role blends hands-on expertise with strategic leadership to ensure reliable systems, safety, and long-term sustainability.

You will drive maintenance standards, manage budgets, and mentor internal staff while coordinating projects and reducing external vendor reliance. Travel between centers will be required as needed.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
• 3+ years in facility management or a closely related field.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and related maintenance tasks.
• Pool operator license (CPO) required within 90 days of hire.
• CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to travel within the association as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance and facilities across multiple YMCA centers, ensuring safety and reliability of systems.
• Coordinate maintenance projects, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Oversee preventive maintenance, vendor relations, and internal staff development.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and YMCA policies across facilities.
• Respond to emergencies and critical facility issues promptly.
