Job summary

The University of Maine at Machias invites applications for a 12-month, in-person Student Success Advocate based on the Machias campus, with duties spanning travel to Orono to support a seamless student experience. You will act as a dedicated advocate, using EAB Navigate to identify early warning signs and provide proactive, data-driven support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in academic advising or student services.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience in higher education preferred.
• Ability to work with a diverse student population.
• Experience with educational technology and advising software (e.g. Oracle PeopleSoft, EAB Navigate).
• Excellent communication skills, including written, oral, presentation and facilitation skills.
• Self-motivation and ability to work independently.
• Proven track record of student advocacy and support.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive, data-driven support using EAB Navigate to identify early warning signs.
• Bridge students between UMaine Machias and Orono campuses to ensure a seamless experience.
• Engage with students holistically and help build a sense of belonging.
• Join occasional weekend events to foster authentic relationships with students.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for student success and advocacy.
