Job summary

Core Natural Resources, Inc. is seeking an Operations Senior Accountant for the Mtn Laurel Mine. The role focuses on cost management, timely period close, and accurate cost estimates while partnering with Mine Management and Operations accounting.

You will ensure internal controls, support audits, and drive process improvements within an ERP environment, leveraging cross-functional collaboration with FP&A and Supply Chain.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent required.
  • Minimum two years of accounting experience with emphasis on cost management in manufacturing (mining preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting theory.

Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver cost estimates: daily, weekly, monthly.
  • Analyze internal financial statements and provide variance explanations.
  • Ensure internal control compliance and respond to audit inquiries.
  • Collaborate with FP&A for location budgeting and with Supply Chain to ensure policy compliance.
  • Identify system/process improvements and drive automation.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly energized and driven accounting professional. This role is a key contributor the location and will execute key deliverables to Mine Management and Operations Accounting. The successful candidate will partner with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure complete, accurate and timely cost estimates and period closing.

Target Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver subject matter expertise, and content and process ownership of their scope of responsibility, including:
    • Daily, weekly, monthly Cost Estimates
    • Internal financial statement analysis, reconciliation and variance explanations
  • Deliver internal control compliance
  • Own and manage relevant external and internal audit inquiries
  • Understanding of relevant accounting functionality in an ERP Environment; ability to identify and drive system and process improvement opportunities – keen focus on automation, simplification and process/system sustainability
  • Drive and own cross-functional stakeholder relationships
    • Partner with FP&A in formulating location budget
    • Partner with Supply Chain Management to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Investigate and resolve business unit inquiries and variance analysis

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a minimum of two years of accounting experience with particular emphasis on cost management in a manufacturing environment (mining preferred);
  • Strong knowledge of accounting theory and application of U.S. GAAP
  • Experience with ERP systems; Oracle preferred
  • Ability to build a clear sense of ownership and accountability in their scope of responsibilities; capability to pursue solutions and additional information when gaps or questions exist
  • Problem-solving skills – identification and implementation of solutions
  • Excellent communication skills – ability to build and instill trust, partner effectively with stakeholders
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including intermediate knowledge of Excel
