Job summary

WSP is seeking an Inspector/Superintendent to support the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s SBMP in the New York Metro Area. The role involves overseeing small business contractors, conducting comprehensive inspections, and ensuring safety and quality across sites in NYC and beyond.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 9 years of progressive construction inspection experience, with concrete work experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience managing or monitoring at least two construction projects each worth ≥ $1M.
• Extensive experience on infrastructure projects.
• Ability to interpret contract documents and shop drawings.
• Experience using PMIS/Unifier, Procore or Asite for documentation.
• Safety and QA training and discipline.
• Uphold safety standards and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee multiple construction sites to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
• Perform inspection services with focus on safety and concrete operations.
• Participate in daily project meetings and ensure contractor safety adherence.
• Prepare daily reports and assist in 2‑week look‑ahead schedules.
• Support field tests and review submittals for compliance; schedule inspections.
• Coordinate with MTA personnel on site access, safety, and permits.
• Verify quantity payments to support contract payments.
• Address field concerns and communicate potential issues to leadership.
• Work with contractors to minimize public disruptions and adhere to MPT plans.
• Mentor MTA Small Business Contractors to meet project completion requirements.
