Job summary

WSP USA seeks an Inspector/Superintendent to support the MTA Small Business Mentoring Program, overseeing work performed by small business contractors across New York City’s five boroughs and beyond as needed.

In this role you will mentor contractors, ensure safety and quality, document daily progress, coordinate with MTA staff, review submittals and schedules, and help manage field tests and site access.

Qualifications

• Nine years of progressive construction inspection experience with concrete work oversight.
• Strong ability to read and interpret contract documents, drawings, and specifications.
• Experience documenting and reporting issues using electronic project management tools.
• Formal safety training and a proven commitment to site safety and QA/QC.
• Track record overseeing multiple projects with value ≥ $1M each.

Responsibilities

• Oversee multiple construction sites to ensure compliance with contracts and specs.
• Conduct inspections with emphasis on safety and concrete operations.
• Attend and document daily meetings, ensuring proper tool box talks and coordination.
• Prepare daily reports and assist with look-ahead scheduling and submittal reviews.
• Coordinate field tests, shop drawings, and material reviews with project staff.
• Coordinate with MTA personnel for site access, safety requirements, and permits.
• Support subcontractor coordination and manage schedule impacts with PMs.
• Verify quantity payments and report contract discrepancies promptly.
