Job summary

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work is required.
• LMSW license by Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners is required.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) is required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment or for non-UAB Hospital units, First Five Rapid Response Basics training within 30 days and maintained annually.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychosocial support to individuals, families and groups dealing with chronic, acute or terminal illness.
• Advise family caregivers, provide patient education and counseling, and make referrals for additional services.
• Assist with care and case management and interventions to promote health and address barriers to access to healthcare.
• Facilitate discharge planning and identify community resources to assist patients and families.
• Serve as a clinical resource to social work students and the community.
