Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Licensed Master Social Worker to provide psychosocial support to patients and families across inpatient and ambulatory settings. You will assess psychosocial needs, facilitate counseling, referrals, and discharge planning as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifying LMSW licensure is required, with BLS or First Five Rapid Response Basics training within 30 days of hire. UAB Medicine offers extensive benefits and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work required.
• Currently licensed as a LMSW by the Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners required.
• If job is in UAB Hospital, First Five Rapid Response Basics online training must be completed within 30 days and maintained annually.
• If units/departments other than UAB Hospital, basic Life Support (BLS) is required or obtained within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychosocial support to individuals, families and groups dealing with chronic, acute, or terminal illness.
• Provide counseling, patient education, and referrals to other services.
• Assist with discharge planning and identify community resources to support patients and families.
• Serve as a clinical resource to social service students and the community.
