Job summary

Merrimack College in North Andover, MA invites applications for one assistant professor of practice, a 9-month, non-tenure track faculty position beginning Spring 2027 to teach on-campus and online in the CSWE-accredited MSW program.

Candidates must have an MSW from a CSWE-accredited program (or CSWE equivalency) and a doctoral degree in Social Work or a related field; duties include teaching 8 courses, advising, and service to the MSW program and College.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited program or equivalency as defined by CSWE
• Doctoral degree in Social Work or an Ed.D. or Ph.D. in a related field
• Minimum 2-years full-time post MSW experience in social work practice
• Minimum of 3 years of on-campus and/or online teaching in a MSW program

Responsibilities

• Teach a total of 8 courses across fall and spring semesters
• Provide academic advising and actively contribute to the MSW program, the Graduate School of Counseling and Social Work, and the College
• Deliver on-campus and online teaching (asynchronous and synchronous); teach in the evening after 4:00 pm
• Handle course management (assessments, grading) and mentoring of graduate students; attend faculty meetings and complete programmatic tasks as assigned by the Dean
