Job summary

KIEWIT is seeking a Safety Trainer to develop, deliver, and continuously improve MSHA-regulated safety training across industrial construction operations. The role emphasizes New Miner, Experienced Miner, and Annual Refresher programs, partnering with project teams to uphold Nobody Gets Hurt culture.

The candidate should have MSHA Surface Instructor experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and proven facilitation skills, with travel and relocation as needed to support projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience serving as an MSHA Surface Instructor is required.
• Experience delivering MSHA Part 46 and/or Part 48 training programs.
• Strong knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations.
• Experience facilitating instructor-led training.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver MSHA Part 46 and Part 48 Surface Miner training programs (New Miner, Experienced Miner, Site-Specific Hazard Awareness, Task Training, Annual Refresher).
• Facilitate classroom, field, and hands-on safety training for craft professionals, supervisors, and project personnel.
• Develop and maintain training materials, presentations, lesson plans, and training records per regulatory and company requirements.
• Collaborate with project safety teams to identify training needs and address site hazards and risks.
• Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, audits, and feedback; assist with onboarding and workforce mobilization.
• Support incident investigations by identifying training gaps and recommending corrective actions.
• Maintain compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and company safety standards; monitor regulatory changes.
