Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.

  • Experience working directly with special education population in urban classrooms.
  • Documented use of data-driven instruction to achieve student gains.
  • Experience with completing and utilizing the IEP Data Collection Toolkit.

Responsibilities

  • Design ambitious assignments, goals, outcomes, and assessments for all students.
  • Assess strengths, needs, and growth for diverse learners including ELs and students with disabilities.
  • Create a learning environment with effective grouping strategies and resources.
  • Analyze assessment data with school leaders to guide instruction.
  • Promote understanding of content through multiple representations and problem-solving strategies.
  • Encourage student initiative and accountability for learning.
  • Utilize classroom management to foster a safe learning climate.
  • Promote active participation and critical thinking through collaborative activities.
  • Incorporate assessments into actionable feedback and student self-measurement.
  • Communicate progress to students and parents at frequent intervals.
  • Maintain non-instructional records (attendance, grading, discipline, schedules).
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and model best practices.
