Reports To: Building Principal and Certified Librarian
Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to provide literacy intervention, instructional support, and academic access services to identified at risk students. This position works collaboratively with classroom teachers, intervention staff, and the certified librarian to support reading comprehension, vocabulary development, engagement with text, and equitable access to instructional materials.
This role is designed to help remove barriers to curriculum access and improve student literacy achievement through direct student support, targeted intervention, literacy engagement, and instructional reinforcement aligned to Michigan Section 31a requirements.
Secondary responsibilities include assisting with the organization and maintenance of library resources and instructional materials in support of student literacy access and learning opportunities. Literacy intervention and direct student support responsibilities take priority when determining daily assignments and scheduling.

This position may be funded through Michigan Section 31a and is specifically designed to provide direct and indirect support services to identified at-risk students through literacy intervention, instructional reinforcement, and removal of barriers to curriculum access.
The position aligns to Section 31a requirements through:
Library organizational responsibilities are secondary in nature and exist to support student literacy access, instructional support, and equitable availability of learning resources connected to the educational purpose of the position.
Compensation
Compensation will be provided in accordance with applicable district policies, collective bargaining agreements, and approved salary schedules. Specific compensation details will be discussed with selected candidates.
