Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate all aspects of purchasing and distribution of maintenance repair supply parts and services, focusing on cost-effective solutions.
- Select qualified suppliers and develop new supply sources for high-value, long lead-time, critical parts, equipment, materials, or services.
- Maintain productive relationships with vendors and service providers to obtain the best purchasing prices.
- Determine and evaluate alternative part sources.
- Establish centralized buying processes including issuing purchase orders, contracts, change orders, and managing inventory and costs.
- Develop and maintain a vendor management/reliability scorecard to track delivery performance and manage in real-time.
- Identify areas for improvement and develop continuous improvement initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction and reduce material costs.
- Maintain accurate records and reports.
- Act as the primary contact for all MRO vendor issues.
- Utilize the corporate purchasing card for purchases as needed.
- Implement cost reduction strategies for MRO purchases and work to reduce indirect inventory.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Materials, Quality, Finance, etc.).
- Monitor and communicate supplier performance, taking corrective actions as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMPs).
- Assist in updating standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provide administrative support, including organizing meetings, compiling reports, data entry backup, and supporting plant management.
- Coordinate work activities with the storeroom attendant.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a related field.
- At least 3 years of MRO procurement experience, preferably in manufacturing and production environments.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs)
- Understanding of mechanical and electrical parts and terminology.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for internal and external interactions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new applications.
- Adaptability to changing procedures and environments.
- Ability to interpret business and technical documents and regulations, write reports, and present information effectively.
- Mathematical skills including probability, statistics, and geometry, with the ability to apply practical concepts like fractions and percentages.
- Common sense application and problem-solving skills involving multiple variables.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experience with maintenance management systems.
