Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a skilled MRI Technologist to perform routine and advanced MRI examinations, adapt protocols under radiologist guidance, and ensure high-quality images with patient safety in a clinical setting.

The role requires preparation of patients, efficient workflow, and collaboration with the Imaging Department, along with leading and training staff and students in MRI procedures.

Qualifications

  • Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology.
  • Associate's Degree in a related field.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Certified MRI Technologist within 1 year from ARMRIT.
  • Registered in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) within 1 year from ARRT/ARRT.
  • Competency in MRI procedures.
  • Knowledge of high-field and low-field MRI magnets.
  • Technical knowledge of MRI equipment hardware and software.
  • Reasonable troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of MRI magnet-strength terminology and jargon.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and specialized MRI examinations.
  • Adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic or therapeutic results under the direction of a radiologist.
  • Prepare patients for examinations.
  • Perform MRI procedures according to Medical Imaging guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Evaluate finished images for accurate identification and appropriate image quality.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety during procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of high-field and low-field magnet equipment.
  • Operate MRI equipment hardware and software and perform reasonable troubleshooting.
  • Check equipment safety and report problems through appropriate channels.
  • Perform MRI/Medical Imaging Department support functions.
  • Prepare images and paperwork for timely exam turnaround.
  • Transport patients to and from the department as required.
  • Enter patient information accurately into the HIS system.
  • Coordinate patient flow.
  • Monitor people entering MRI zones 3 and 4 to ensure a safe environment.
  • Address patient moving and handling issues and use lift equipment appropriately.
  • Train fellow technologists and students.
  • Assist the Lead Technologist in teaching MRI procedures to coworkers and students.

Requirements


  • Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology

  • Associate's Degree in a related field

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days from the American Heart Association (AHA)

  • Certified MRI Technologist within 1 year from the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)

  • Registered in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) within 1 year from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

  • Competency in MRI procedures

  • Knowledge of high-field and low-field MRI magnets

  • Technical knowledge of MRI equipment hardware and software

  • Reasonable troubleshooting skills

  • Knowledge of MRI magnet-strength terminology and jargon

  • Ability to obtain adequate lab specimens for testing

  • Ability to enter patient information accurately into the HIS system

  • Ability to promote patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment

  • Ability to work the weekend schedule: two 12-hour shifts Saturday/Sunday and one 12-hour shift during the week, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.

  • Weekend work required

  • Holidays that fall on weekends required
