Job summary

IU Health is seeking a hospital-based MRI Technologist to provide a range of diagnostic imaging services for inpatients and outpatients in Fort Wayne. The role involves screening for safety, preparing and administering contrast, and ensuring patient comfort during scans.

The position requires an ARRT MRI certification or equivalent within 12 months of hire, BLS, and potential ISDH licensure in Indiana. MRI experience is preferred, with a rotating holiday schedule and sign-on incentives available.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of MRI safety and safety zones.
• Ability to obtain IV access and administer contrast.
• Advanced certification in MRI (RT(MR) or ARMRIT) within 12 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
• ISDH license may be required in Indiana.
• MRI experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review patient history and screen for safety concerns before scanning.
• Educate patients on what to expect and ensure they are safe and comfortable during their scan.
• Obtain IV access, prepare and administer contrast.
• Ensure the MRI environment remains safe by screening all visitors and team members entering the MRI environment.
• Display knowledge of scanning protocols and adjust to ensure diagnostic images.
• Collaborate with radiologists and referring physicians; document necessary information in EMR.
• Assist with minimally invasive procedures as needed.
