Job summary

Highmark Health/Allegheny Health Network seeks an MRI Technologist to perform radiographic imaging procedures with minimal supervision. You will mentor staff, train students, and participate in QA and regulatory activities while implementing protocol updates.

The role requires ARRT MR or equivalent certification and an associate degree, with a focus on patient interaction and safety in a busy radiology department.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in healthcare or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • 2 years of experience as a registered MRI Technologist.
  • ARRT (R) MR, or ARMRIT, or CAMRT certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performs MRI imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, physicians and team members; addresses concerns.
  • Acts as a day-to-day mentor/resource for staff and students; orients and trains new staff.
  • Participates in quality assurance activities, quality control, and accreditation preparation/documentation.
  • Delivers specialty exams proficiently and updates MRI scanner protocols as needed.
  • Supports system-wide standardization and process improvement workgroups.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job performs prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Performs all essential job responsibilities of a MRI Technologist, including but not limited to, performing age-specific diagnostic imaging per established protocols. Effectively communicates and interacts with patients, physicians and other team members. Addresses patient and physician concerns. Responds to adverse events and/or any changes with patient's status. (40%)

  • Acts as a day-to-day mentor/resource for staff and others within the department. Orients and trains new staff and students. (20%)

  • Performs and/or trains others relative to quality assurance activities, quality control, and regulatory testing and accreditation preparation/documentation. (10%)

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the performance of specialty exams and analyzes data promptly to resolve problems and improve efficiency. Enter new or edit existing MRI scanner protocols. (10%)

  • Participates in standardization activities and process improvement initiatives with system-level workgroups. (10%)

  • Coverage of chief tech duties, as assigned. (10%)

  • Performs other duties, as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Required


  • Associate's degree in healthcare or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or six months to one-year related experience and/or training or equivalent education and experience.

  • 2 years of experience as a registered MRI Technologist experience and/or training or equivalent education and experience.

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R) (MR), or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT), or Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
