Job summary

Ochsner LSU Health System of North Louisiana seeks an MRI technologist to maintain MRI safety and perform routine imaging in accordance with safety protocols. The role serves as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students, with duties spanning order verification, patient communication, image review, and quality control.

Requirements include a high school diploma, 6 months MRI experience, BLS certification, and ARRT/ARDMS/NMTCB credentials or equivalent licensing.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• ARRT registered or unlimited state license OR ARDMS/NMTCB certification with related degree OR MR credential.
• Advanced MRI certification within two years of employment.
• Preferred: clinical MRI experience.

Responsibilities

• Verifies physician order and procedure accuracy.
• Independently operates MRI equipment per protocol.
• Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
• Reviews patient images for diagnostic quality.
• Completes timely quality control procedures and remediation as needed.
• Assists in department operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance).
• Adapts communication and approach to the patient population while maintaining confidentiality.
• Performs other related duties as required.
