Job summary

Ochsner LSU Health is seeking an MRI Technologist to ensure safe MRI procedures, mentor junior staff, and uphold safety protocols across departments. The role requires MRI expertise and certification with a supportive, patient-centered approach.

The incumbent will operate MRI equipment, verify orders, and explain procedures to patients, while maintaining confidentiality and adapting to flexible scheduling and travel between facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 6 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience required.
• ARRT registered or unlimited state license OR certification in another clinical imaging field with allied health degree OR MR technologist credentials (ARRT/ARMRIT/CAMRT) with no experience.
• Advanced MRI certification required within two years of employment.

Responsibilities

• Verifies physician order and procedure accuracy.
• Operates MRI equipment and position patient per protocol.
• Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
• Review images for diagnostic quality prior to transmission.
• Maintain regulatory quality control and assist with departmental operations.
• Protect patient privacy and handle sensitive information faithfully.
• Be adaptable to patient populations and varying clinical situations.
• Perform other related duties as required.
