Job summary

Howard Head Sports Medicine is seeking a PRN MRI Technologist to perform MRI and X-ray exams at Vail Health in Vail, CO. The role requires ARRT certification and BLS, with 1–2 years MRI experience preferred.

Hourly pay ranges from $44.64 to $61.60, plus a 16% PRN differential. Schedule is PRN/pool with rotating shifts, and benefits include wellbeing funds. Must maintain safety standards and collaborate with the health care team.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years MRI tech experience preferred; healthcare experience required.
• ARRT RT(R)(MR) or ARMRIT certification required.
• Basic Life Support certification required.
• Completion of all educational and clinical requirements to qualify for ARRT examination.

Responsibilities

• Performs MRI examinations according to Vail Health protocols.
• Performs radiographic examinations according to Vail Health protocols.
• Reviews examinations for technical accuracy and communicates results to the care team.
• Identifies patients and ensures order consistency with clinical diagnosis.
• Maintains patient safety, confidentiality, and infection control standards.
• Maintains HIS/PACS documentation and equipment readiness.
• Monitors supply inventory and keeps exam rooms stocked.
• Demonstrates Just Culture principles in all duties.

In this role, you’ll perform MRI and radiographic exams, ensure high-quality imaging, maintain patient safety and comfort, and collaborate with a dedicated healthcare team to deliver exceptional care.

About the opportunity:

Perform diagnostic MRI and X-ray examinations while ensuring quality, efficiency, and continuity of patient care and image exam throughput and workflow.

What you will do:

• Performs all MRI examinations according to Vail Health protocols.
• Performs all radiographic examinations according to Vail Health protocols.
• Review each examination for technical accuracy, send completed examinations to radiologist, and communicate pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.
• Identifies each patient and reviews exam order for consistency of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis. Reviews consistency of all demographic information including physician’s name and signature, patient’s name, and date.
• Maintain constructive collaborative communication with patients, patient’s family, physicians, co-workers and other members of health care team to contribute to continuity of care.
• Maintains established department policies and procedures, objectives, confidentiality, quality assurance, safety, environmental standards, radiation protection standards, infection control standards, and universal precautions.
• Maintains working knowledge and use of the Vail Health HIS and PACS computer systems to ensure quality patient documentation.
• Monitor supply inventory and notify appropriate staff for ordering when stock is low. Keep exam and dressing rooms stocked and neat.
• Role models the principles of a Just Culture.
• Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

What you will need:

Experience:

• 1-2 years of previous MRI Tech experience preferred. Previous experience in healthcare required.
• Previous X-ray tech experience including the ARRT registry.

License(s):

• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) RT(R)(MR)or ARMRIT certification required

Certification(s):

• Basic Life Support required.

Education:

• Completion of all educational and clinical requirements to qualify for ARRT examination.
