Job summary

Aiken Regional Medical Centers in Aiken, SC is seeking an MRI Technologist to join our imaging team on a PRN, on-call basis. You will operate the MRI scanner, prepare and position patients, and acquire diagnostic images for interpretation by physicians.

Responsibilities include calibration, image transfer to PACS, contrast injections as needed, and adherence to safety and QA standards. Cross-department rotations and on-call coverage are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Education requirements: Successful completion of a radiological program or equivalent military training
• Work experience requirements: Two (2) years experience in diagnostic radiology in a health care facility and one (1) year experience as an MRI Technologist preferred
• Required licenses/certifications/courses ARRT registered, BLS (or obtained within 90 days of employment), current South Carolina license issued by SC Radiation Quality Standards Association

• Operates and maintains a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner to obtain images for physicians
• Instructs patients regarding MRI procedures; positions patients for imaging and selects imaging techniques
• Obtains images, transfers from desk to PACS/work stations, and performs quality assurance on MRI equipment
• Performs contrast injections as required and ensures patient safety per policy and QA standards
• Rotates to other imaging departments and participates in on-call rotation
• Maintains MRI lab supplies and accurate study documentation

Visit us online at: https://www.aikenregional.com MRI Technologist operates and maintains a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner to obtain images from patients which are used by physicians to diagnose the nature and extent of designated pathologies. Participates in the establishment of scan protocol, as appropriate. Duties: Verifies written request for MRI procedures. Instructs patients regarding MRI procedures; prepares, positions, and manipulates patients to ensure appropriate placement for imaging. Selects appropriate imaging techniques, and calibrates console and peripheral hardware as required. Obtains images, produces film records and backups from desk to storage media, and transfers from desk to work stations as requested. Performs contrast injections satisfactory. Maintain current knowledge of MRI environmental, patient and visitor safety as defined by hospital policy, practice, ACR and Joint Commission Charges procedures in RMS accurately and immediately after procedure is performed. Sends images to PACS appropriately and verifies all are available for interpretation in a timely manner. Enters and monitors patient data and maintains accurate study documentation. Performs quality assurance on magnetic resonance equipment and procedures. Maintains MRI Lab supplies. May provide instruction and guidance in MRI procedures to staff in training as assigned. Demonstrates clinical knowledge and skill in the care of the newborn, infant, toddler, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient. Ensures adherence to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, QA programs and safety standards. Performs additional duties as assigned. Obtain and correctly document verbal and telephone orders per facility policy (only applies to ARRT licensed staff). Rotates to other imaging departments as needed; participates in holiday and on-call rotation requirements.
