Job summary

Aiken Regional Medical Centers is seeking an MRI Technologist to operate and maintain the MRI scanner, obtain diagnostic images, and support protocol development. The role requires patient instruction, image acquisition, and adherence to safety standards.

The candidate should have radiology training, ARRT registration, BLS, and SC licensure. On-site position with on-call obligations and rotation to other imaging areas may apply.

Qualifications

• Completion of a radiological program or equivalent military training.
• Two years of diagnostic radiology experience in a health care facility and one year as an MRI Technologist preferred.
• ARRT registration, BLS certification, and SC license as required.

Responsibilities

• Verifies written requests for MRI procedures.
• Instructs patients regarding MRI procedures; prepares, positions, and manipulates patients for imaging.
• Selects imaging techniques and calibrates console and peripherals as required.
• Obtains images, produces film records, and transfers data to work stations.
• Performs contrast injections satisfactorily.
• Maintains knowledge of MRI safety per policy and standards.
• Sends images to PACS and verifies availability for interpretation.
• Enters and monitors patient data and maintains study documentation.
• Performs QA on MRI equipment and procedures.
• Maintains MRI lab supplies.
• Mentors staff in MRI procedures as assigned.
• Provides care across ages from newborn to geriatric.
• Ensures adherence to department policies and safety standards.
• Rotates to other imaging departments as needed; participates in on-call rotation.

Education

Radiology program completed or equivalent military training

Two years experience in diagnostic radiology and one year MRI experience preferred

Responsibilities

MRI Technologist 7am to 7:30 pm, Tues, Wed and Thur. On-call shifts required Aiken Regional Medical Centers, located in Aiken, South Carolina, is a 273-bed acute care facility providing quality healthcare to the residents of Aiken and surrounding communities. Aiken Regional Medical Centers has been ranked a top hospital in South Carolina by the Carolina Center for Medical Excellence for its treatment of heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia. Services provided at the hospital include emergency medical care, orthopedic surgeries, maternity, and behavioral health services. Visit us online at: https://www.aikenregional.com MRI Technologist operates and maintains a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner to obtain images from patients which are used by physicians to diagnose the nature and extent of designated pathologies. Participates in the establishment of scan protocol, as appropriate.

Duties

• Verifies written request for MRI procedures.
• Instructs patients regarding MRI procedures; prepares, positions, and manipulates patients to ensure appropriate placement for imaging.
• Selects appropriate imaging techniques, and calibrates console and peripheral hardware as required.
• Obtains images, produces film records and backups from desk to storage media, and transfers from desk to work stations as requested.
• Performs contrast injections satisfactory.
• Maintain current knowledge of MRI environmental, patient and visitor safety as defined by hospital policy, practice, ACR and Joint Commission Charges procedures in RMS accurately and immediately after procedure is performed.
• Sends images to PACS appropriately and verifies all are available for interpretation in a timely manner.
• Enters and monitors patient data and maintains accurate study documentation.
• Performs quality assurance on magnetic resonance equipment and procedures.
• Maintains MRI Lab supplies.
• May provide instruction and guidance in MRI procedures to staff in training as assigned.
• Demonstrates clinical knowledge and skill in the care of the newborn, infant, toddler, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.
• Ensures adherence to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, QA programs and safety standards.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
• Obtain and correctly document verbal and telephone orders per facility policy (only applies to ARRT licensed staff).
• Rotates to other imaging departments as needed; participates in holiday and on-call rotation requirements.
