Job summary

Boys Town National Research Hospital in Omaha, NE seeks a skilled MRI technologist to perform and support MRI scans, ensuring patient safety and image quality. You will screen patients, position them, administer contrast when indicated, and coordinate with radiologists.

The role requires ARRT certification and BLS/CPR, familiarity with PACS, strong communication, and the ability to work with minimal supervision and on-call coverage within 30 minutes.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of operating MRI and x-ray equipment for all patient populations.
• Ability to place IVs for studies requiring IV contrast.
• Ability to communicate with and instruct patients of all ages.
• Proficient in PACS software and basic data entry.
• Capable of working with minimal supervision and on-call readiness.
• Committed to continuing education and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex MRI tasks following prescribed safety procedures and patient screening.
• Verifies patient, site, positioning, and scan parameters for each exam.
• Positions patients using immobilization devices for high-quality images.
• Administers contrast media when indicated and educates patients on risks and instructions.
• Sends images to PACS and demonstrates basic PACS knowledge.
• Evaluates MRI image quality, labels, and routes to interpreting radiologist.
• Ensures correct charging of procedures and supplies.
• Participates in performance improvement and survey readiness activities.
• Demonstrates professional behavior aligned with Radiology service standards.
• Provides patient care and education appropriate to the population served.
