Job summary

University of Michigan is seeking an MRI Technologist to operate a magnetic resonance scanner for diagnostic imaging. You will follow established protocols, ensure patient safety and comfort, review histories, and prepare patients while maintaining high standards of confidentiality.

You will collaborate with radiologists, technologists, and multidisciplinary teams, and may train new staff as needed. Eligible ARRT/ARMRIT certification or MRI program enrollment is required with registry deadlines.

Qualifications

• Registered MRI Technologist by ARRT or ARMRIT, or enrolled in MRI program with registry within 6 months.
• First registry attempt must be within 6 months from hire/transfer; up to 3 attempts within 18 months.

Responsibilities

• Operate diagnostic MRI procedures following protocols, ensuring patient safety and confidentiality.
• Review histories and HIPAA compliance to confirm procedure suitability.
• Position patients and optimize imaging quality with safe practices.
• Maintain MR safety standards for patients and staff.
• Operate MR equipment and document findings accurately.
• Prepare and administer contrast media under Radiologist supervision.
• Provide clear instructions and support to patients and staff.
• Train new staff as needed and assist with patient preparation duties.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
