Qualifications

• Knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and magnetic safety.
• Competent in IV and venipuncture (if required by facility).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills to work effectively with physicians, patients and other staff members.
• Ability to work independently.
• Intermediate computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Competently operates magnetic resonance (MR) equipment used to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures.
• Obtains medical history from patients, compares requisitions to physician's orders to ensure exam accuracy, and prepares and administers contrast media.
• Positions patient and selects scanning factors, adjusts factors to attain the appropriate images, and maintains magnet safety.
• Post-processes images and accurately labels images with patient name and MRU number.
• Maintains records and enters patient data into radiology information system and documents billing codes.
• Identifies equipment issues and performs quality assurance and calibration procedures.
• Performs patient positioning and transporting duties, lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate care across life span and follows department policies.
