Job summary

Expert MRI is seeking an MRI Technologist for a part-time role in Sherman Oaks. You will operate MRI equipment to produce diagnostic images, ensure patient safety, and coordinate with Radiologists.

Qualifications include an Associate's degree or equivalent, MRI technology training, and ARRT/ARMRIT registration. Evening and weekend shifts are required as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training.
• Graduate of a certified school of MRI technology.
• Registered as an MRI technologist by either ARRT or ARMRIT by passing the registry exam and qualifying for the position.
• Medical software, PC and office software, modality interface software and hardware.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patient to explain MRI procedures and ensures removal of metal objects hazardous to patient and equipment when magnet is activated.
• Prevents patients or others with incompatible objects from entering the magnet room.
• Positions patient on examining table and places specified coil according to Radiologist protocols.
• Demonstrates use of a microphone for patient-technologist communication during examination.
• Performs phlebotomy as needed to safely inject contrast media as indicated.
• Enters patient history, area to be scanned, and orientation into the computer.
• Keys commands to specify scan sequences and adjust equipment settings.
• Monitors patient safety and comfort during examination and communicates regularly with patient.
• Views images to ensure quality and adjusts pulse sequences for optimal results.
• Moves DICOM datasets to destinations per policy and procedure.
• Alerts and controls access to magnet room as needed for safety.
• Maintains a safe environment and participates in training MRI students.

Position MRI Technologist - Part Time

Description

The physicians and staff at Expert MRI are among California's most knowledgeable and experienced at diagnosing orthopedic and traumatic brain imaging. In addition to extensive MRI capabilities, we also use CT and X-Ray to assist in properly diagnosing your patient's condition.

***Hospital Experience preferred

***Schedule Saturday & Sunday, Evening shift as needed, weekdays as needed and willing to commuite to other clinical sites locations

***Pay Rate: $30-$55 per hour

We are currently looking for an MRI Technologist to join our team.

The MRI Technologist operates magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce cross-sectional images of the patient's body for diagnostic purposes.

• Interviews patient to explain magnetic resonance imaging procedures and ensures removal of those metal objects which are hazardous to patient and equipment when magnet is activated.
• Prevents patients or others who have incompatible objects that cannot be removed from entering the magnet room.
• Positions patient on examining table and places specified coil (receiver) such as head coil or knee coil, close to area of interest, following protocols requested by Radiologist.
• Demonstrates use of microphone that allows patient and technologist to communicate during examination.
• Performs phlebotomy as needed to safely inject contrast media as indicated and approved.
• Enters data such as patient history, anatomical area to be scanned, orientation specified, and position of entry into aperture of magnetic resonance imaging equipment (head or feet first), into computer.
• Keys commands to specify scan sequences, and adjust transmitters and receivers, into computer.
• Observes patient through window of control room and on closed circuit TV screen to monitor patient safety and comfort and communicates regularly with patient to assure comfort and compliance.
• Views images of area being scanned on video monitor to ensure quality of acquisition datasets.
• Modify pulse sequence parameters as needed to achieve optimal results.
• Moves DICOM datasets to destinations and storage per policy and procedure.
• Alerts and controls access to anyone about to enter magnet room to danger of wearing or carrying metal around magnet.
• Acts as a gatekeeper to maintain a safe environment.
• Participates in the training of MRI students in their clinical rotation as needed.

Education/Experience:

• Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Medical software, PC and office software, modality interface software and hardware.
• Graduate of a certified school of MRI technology.
• Registered as an MRI technologist by either ARRT or ARMRIT by passing the registry exam and qualifying for the position.
