Qualifications

• Certified by ARRT, NMTCB, or ARMRIT.
• Graduation from a radiologic technology program; a related bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Must obtain or hold current certification and complete advanced certification within 24 months if hired after a specified date.
• Knowledge of MRI safety, imaging protocols, and medication administration is essential.

Responsibilities

• Obtain correct patient information, verify clinical history, and ensure confidentiality.
• Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, ensuring patient safety and image quality.
• Administer medications via vascular access when prescribed.
• Evaluate images for accuracy and technical quality, manage data transfer and storage.

MRI Technologists perform magnetic resonance imaging procedures to assist in diagnosis, research, or therapy, independently or with licensed practitioners. They prepare patients, ensure proper identification, and follow safety protocols while optimizing imaging quality and applying ALARA principles. They may evaluate images, transfer data, and assist with interventional procedures. Additionally, they prepare and administer medications as authorized and educate healthcare providers and students.
