Job summary

Boys Town National Research Hospital in Omaha, NE seeks an MRI Technologist to perform complex MRI scans and ensure patient safety and comfort. This on-call role supports the West Hospital location and requires detailed image quality, safety protocols, and accurate patient screening.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an AMA approved, accredited School of Radiologic Technology or an Education in Radiologic Technology from an approved program in the U.S. Military required.
  • ARRT in Radiography and MRI within 90-days of transfer or hire required.
  • CPR Certified required.
  • BLS certification within 90 days for Cognitive Neuroscience department.
  • CITI certification within 30 days for Cognitive Neuroscience department.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complex MRI tasks with safety procedures and patient screening.
  • Ensures correct patient, site, positioning, protocols and scan parameters for each scan.
  • Positions patients and instructs for MRI scans using immobilization devices.
  • Administers contrast media when indicated and manages possible reactions.
  • Sends images to PACS and uses PACS software.
  • Evaluates MRI scans for technical quality and labels images correctly.
  • Routes images and history to interpreting radiologist.
  • Ensures proper charging of procedures and supplies.
  • Participates in department performance improvements and survey readiness.
  • Provides patient care and education as required.

Job Summary:

In a career as an MRI Technologist, you join us in providing life-changing care to patients from across the region. In this role, you will complete a variety of tasks involved in the performance of MRI scans.

Schedule: On-Call

Locations: West Hospital

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Performs complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of the MRI scanner in accordance with prescribed MRI safety procedures, including all patient screening procedures.
  • Assures that for all scans correct patient, imaging site, patient positioning, correct protocols and scan parameters are verified.
  • Positions and instructs patients for MRI scans using immobilization, support, and protective devices.
  • Administers contrast media, if indicated; screens and educates patients regarding contrast media, possible reactions, and post procedure contrast instructions; implements emergency procedures in response to contrast media reactions.
  • Able to successfully send images to PACS and demonstrate basic knowledge of PACS software.
  • Evaluates MRI scans for technical quality, collates processed images, in sequence of exposure, and appropriately labels.
  • Routes images and appropriate history electronically to the interpreting radiologist.
  • Ensures correct charging of procedures and supplies.
  • Participates in department performance improvement and survey readiness activities.
  • Demonstrates behaviors consistent with Radiology service standards.
  • Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Graduate of an AMA approved, accredited School of Radiologic Technology or an Education in Radiologic Technology from an approved program in the U.S. Military required.
  • ARRT in Radiography and MRI within 90-days of transfer or hire required.
  • CPR Certified required.
  • If employed in the Cognitive Neuroscience department, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of transfer or hire required.
  • If employed in the Cognitive Neuroscience department, Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative(CITI) certification within 30 days of transfer or hire required.
