Job summary

University of Washington Medical Center – Northwest is seeking an MRI Radiology Technologist to perform MRI examinations under the supervision of a radiologist. The role emphasizes accurate imaging, patient safety, and efficient workflow in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include patient preparation, positioning, acquiring diagnostic-quality MRI images, and participating in quality assurance. Licensure, AMA-approved training, and ARRT registration are required.

Qualifications

  • Certified by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Satisfactory completion of an AMA-approved technology training program and ARRT registration.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.”

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient and independently performs MRI exams and procedures
  • Informs patients of exam procedure, transfers and positions patient safely and properly for examination, and observes and monitors patient’s condition
  • Produces technically acceptable MRI exams, selects proper technical factors, and reviews and evaluates MRI images for diagnostic quality
  • Performs quality assurance checks on equipment and processes per department policies and informs supervisor of issues
  • Completes required paperwork and records, inputs exam orders, patient data, charges, and prepares reports
  • continually evaluates patient flow and work assignments, prioritizes work effectively
  • Answers phones and may assist in order entry, image library, scheduling, and patient transport
  • Maintains patient environment and ensures equipment and supplies are ready, cleans rooms and waits areas
  • Assists with training and mentoring new personnel and students, participates in departmental goals and performance improvement projects
