Job summary

North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform high‑quality imaging and support radiology procedures. You will verify orders, prepare patients, obtain clinical history, and operate MRI equipment with care and precision.

The role requires ARRT MRI registry eligibility and BLS, offers a weekend program schedule, and includes a $15,000 sign‑on bonus for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an ARRT-recognized Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
• Active enrollment in MRI ARRT registry eligible or ARMRIT program required.
• MRI registry must be obtained within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient. Refers and questions orders to the Radiologist before performing exam.
• Properly identify patients and assist with procedures, preparing them with explanations and documenting on worksheets.
• Interviews patients to obtain complete medical history; reviews EMR to obtain relevant clinical history and correlates with the exam.
• Assumes responsibility for the exam from start to finish including dictated results.
• Prepares and administers IV contrast as per protocol and records type and amount when required.
• Evaluates image quality and consults with Radiologist; processes additional images or measurements as instructed.
• Performs basic patient care, informs nursing staff of changes, and assists in code blue procedures when necessary.
• Performs MRI scanning and assists during invasive procedures with sterile technique and infection control.
• Authorizes medication or contrast material as directed by a licensed practitioner.
• Maintains radiation safety and follows safety guidelines to prevent exposure.
• Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisors and clinical engineering.
• Maintains knowledge of MRI safety for staff and patients in the vicinity of magnetic fields.
• Complies with hospital safety procedures and completes required safety modules.
• Operates radiology computer systems and documents contrast administration in MAR.
• Keeps work areas neat, stocked, and cleans to promote a safe environment.
• Assists anesthesia when performing exams or services with MRI.
• Keeps up-to-date with MRI safety requirements for staff and patients.
