Job summary

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission in Kansas seeks an MRI Technologist for full-time daytime work. You will perform MRI imaging procedures, position patients, and support safety and documentation in a busy radiology unit.

This role requires knowledge of MRI safety, excellent patient care, and teamwork. A basic ARRT MRI credential (or equivalent) and strong computer skills are preferred; a $10,000 sign-on bonus is available.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent with ARRT MRI certification (preferred).
  • Candidates should have MRI experience and knowledge of safety protocols.
  • Strong communication and patient care skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
  • Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam.
  • Positions patients accurately and comfortably using immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.
  • Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.
  • Performs daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures before exams.
  • Maintains documentation in EMR and PACS.
  • Performs high-quality MRI examinations per physician orders and protocols.
  • Reviews patient history to confirm exam appropriateness and contraindications.
  • Screens patients and equipment for MRI safety compliance per policy.
  • Operates imaging equipment safely, adapting protocols for all ages.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MRI Technologist, Full-Time Days

Location:

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission

Responsible for performing MRI imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Positions, moves, and assists patients to ensure accurate imaging results. This role performs clerical duties and provides basic patient care within the scope of practice and departmental standards. In addition, this position adheres to MRI safety guidelines, compliance plans, and regulations of local, state, and federal agencies.

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.

  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.

  • Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam.

  • Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies).

  • Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation.

  • Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.

  • Other duties as assigned.
