Job summary

AdventHealth Winter Park in Florida is seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to perform high-quality MR imaging in a dynamic clinical setting. You will educate patients about MRI procedures, position them comfortably, and monitor for adverse reactions to ensure safety.

This PRN role requires strong MRI safety knowledge, the ability to work with diverse teams, and proficiency with EMR/PACS systems. A completed MRI training program and CPR/BLS credentials are essential.

Responsibilities

• Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
• Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
• Positions patients accurately and comfortably for high-quality imaging.
• Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines.
• Performs and documents daily system quality control checks.
• Operates imaging equipment safely and correctly, adapting protocols as needed.
• Maintains documentation in EMR and PACS systems.
• Performs MRI examinations per physician orders and protocols.

Job Description:

Schedule: PRN

• Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
• Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
• Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam.
• Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.
• Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.
• Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
• Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
• Performs high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety.

• Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation.
• Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Ability to perform MRI procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail [Required]

• Excellent verbal and written skills to facilitate communication with medical personnel that addresses the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-appropriate needs of the patient population served within the organization [Required]

Education:

• Associate [Preferred]
• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Work Experience:

• 1+ years experience in radiology and completion of MRI training program [Preferred]
