Join to apply for the MRI Technologist- FT Charlotte role at Akumin

As an MRI Technologist, you are responsible for patient safety and the performance of high-quality MR studies, on site and/or remote. Ensures effective communication with Radiologist, team members, patients, and customers, especially in the mobile environment. Trains and orients new technologists, Patient Coordinators, and/or MR Technologist Assistants when required.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for Patient Safety, including pre-screening for contraindications, aseptic injection technique, and possibly remote MR Technologists Assistant oversight.
  • Produces high-quality diagnostic images. Operation of multiple MR systems may be required.
  • Uses all communication channels effectively to address concerns, solve problems, and resolve conflicts.
  • Communicates effectively with customers and radiologists.
  • Trains and orients new technologists, patient coordinators, and MR Technologist Assistants, on site and/or remote.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • ARRT (R) or ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification as allowable by contract in lieu of ARRT.
  • State license, if applicable.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Valid state driver’s license, as applicable.
  • Technologists registered in other modalities: 3 months supervised MRI clinical scanning experience OR currently enrolled for more than 6 months in an accredited MRI training program.
  • MR registered technologist RT(MR) or ARMRIT: No experience required.
  • Ability to work at multiple locations.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
  • COVID-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.
  • Local travel may be required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Registry in Magnetic Resonance by the ARRT.
  • 1 year of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Experience.
Physical Requirements:

The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions during patient transport on a mobile unit. Exposure to strong magnetic fields, blood, body fluids, infectious and communicable diseases may occur when interacting with patients.

More than 50% of the time:

  • Sit, stand, walk.
  • Repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements.
  • See, speak, and hear to communicate with patients.

Less than 50% of the time:

  • Stoop, kneel, or crawl.
  • Climb and maintain balance.
  • Carry and lift, including moving non-ambulatory patients.
