Position Overview

The MRI Technologist performs complex imaging and general radiology procedures, adhering to National Patient Safety Goals based on patient contact level.

Responsibilities

1. Perform all body imaging and diagnostic procedures involved in MRI.
2. Assist with equipment calibration and quality control procedures.
3. Position and transfer patients safely and efficiently.
4. Assist radiologists with detailed procedures.
5. Explain procedures to patients and answer questions.
6. Support all imaging modalities within Radiology.
7. Administer radiographic contrast as per physician request and departmental policies.
8. Prepare for IV insertion, including IV setup, insertion, and positioning, following aseptic techniques.

Reporting Structure

Reports to the Lead CT/MRI Technologist and/or Operations Manager/Director.

Physical and Safety Requirements

This role may involve additional physical demands and respiratory fit testing. MRI Technologists are exposed to risks such as infections, radiation, chemicals, and potential injury from needles and lifting. Safety precautions are mandatory. The environment includes noise, odors, and chemicals.

Qualifications

• Current ARRT certification in Radiography and MRI.
• MRI certification required within 12 months of hire.
• CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
• Effective communication skills in English (verbal and written).
