Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to perform neuro, body, and extremity MRIs per Radiologist protocols. You will position patients, explain exams, and ensure safety for patients and staff in the MRI environment.

Responsibilities include IV contrast administration as directed, data entry into IDX/PACS, image processing, and quality control. Strong teamwork and attention to detail are essential for this clinical role.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of MRI process and safety standards.
• Ability to position patients and explain procedures.
• IV contrast administration as directed by Radiologist.
• Enter data into radiology information systems accurately.
• Identify anatomy on MR images and perform QC checks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and position patients for MRI exams and explain the study.
• Perform MRI procedures including neuro, body, and extremity per Radiologist protocols.
• Provide safety protection for patients and staff in the MRI suite.
• Enter patient data into IDX Imaging Suite and PACS; process images.
• Notify leadership of equipment issues and participate in quality control.
• Assist with supplies and radiology liaison duties as needed.
• Handle non-controlled medications during imaging prep and setup.

Job description

• Knowledge of the Magnetic Resonance imaging process and safety in the Magnetic Resonance environment.
• Provides protection to patients and personnel in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
• Prepares and positions patients for Magnetic Resonance procedure; thoroughly explains exam and answers patients' questions.
• Performs Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures including neuro, body, and extremity, following protocols set by a Radiologist.
• Performs venous access on all patients requiring IV contrast administration as directed by a Radiologist.
• Enters necessary data into radiology imaging system, IDX Imaging Suite, and picture archiving communcation system, Image Management Systems.
• Processes images as necessary.
• Ability to identify anatomy on images.
• Performs quality control tests of equipment; reports any irregularities.
• Notifies Team Leader and appropriate maintenance personnel of equipment malfunctions.
• Shares the responsibilities for ordering supplies; notifies appropriate personnel of supply levels.
• Acts as a Radiology liaison; provides radiological support to physicians as requested; refers problems to Team Leader.
• Imaging exams and procedure tray set up require access and handling of non-controlled medications.
