Job summary

Akumin is seeking an MRI Technologist to produce high-quality MRI images and perform procedures across multiple sites. You will administer contrast, screen patients for safety, and collaborate with radiologists and staff to ensure accurate diagnostic results.

The role requires ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT certification, state licensure where applicable, and 3+ years of technologist experience. Travel between sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT certification as allowable by contract in lieu of ARRT.
  • State license, if applicable required.
  • CPR/ BLS and ACLS certifications where applicable.
  • Minimum 3 years technologist experience.
  • Competency with MR equipment and power injection equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Produce cross-sectional MRI images for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Perform MRI procedures by acquiring and analyzing diagnostic data.
  • Independently perform or assist licensed practitioners with MRI procedures.
  • Prepare, administer, and document contrast administration in compliance with laws.
  • Ensure patient safety through MRI contraindication screening and exam scanning.
  • Oversee remote MRI Technologist Assistants when required.
  • Produce high-quality diagnostic images per protocols and standards.
  • Complete annual and ongoing education, site-specific competencies, and in-services.
  • Communicate with customers, radiologists, healthcare staff, patients, families, and visitors.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in HIPAA compliance.
  • Demonstrate contrast safety and administer contrast via peripheral IVs and ports.
  • Use Akumin EMR, PACS, and DICOM systems for image sharing and interpretation.
  • Train and orient new technologists and MR Technologist Assistants.
  • Respond promptly to coverage requests for absences or vacations.

Job description


  • Produce cross-sectional MRI images for diagnostic interpretation

  • Perform MRI procedures by acquiring and analyzing diagnostic data

  • Independently perform or assist licensed practitioners with MRI procedures

  • Prepare, administer, and document contrast administration in compliance with applicable laws and policies

  • Ensure patient safety through MRI contraindication screening, access restriction, equipment screening, and exam scanning

  • Use aseptic injection techniques and oversee remote MRI Technologist Assistants when required

  • Produce high-quality diagnostic images according to company protocols, RadSite Accreditation guidelines, and ARRT/ARMRIT standards

  • Complete annual and ongoing education, site-specific competencies, and in-services

  • Communicate with customers, radiologists, healthcare staff, patients, families, and visitors

  • Maintain patient, family, and staff confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA

  • Demonstrate contrast safety and administer contrast through peripheral IVs, ports, CVLs, and PICC lines when indicated

  • Use Akumin EMR, PACS, and DICOM systems for image sharing and interpretation

  • Train and orient new technologists, patient coordinators, and MR Technologist Assistants

  • Respond promptly to coverage requests for absences or vacations

  • Perform other duties assigned by leadership


Requirements


  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred

  • ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT certification as allowable by contract in lieu of ARRT

  • State license, if applicable required

  • CPR Certification

  • BLS from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)

  • ACLS certification where applicable

  • Valid state driver's license, as applicable required

  • Minimum 3 years technologist experience

  • Ability to work at several locations

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Organizational, multi-tasking, and critical thinking skills

  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs

  • Local travel may be required

  • Preferred: 1 year of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Experience

  • Preferred: Registry in Magnetic Resonance by the ARRT

  • Competency with differing MR equipment and power injection equipment

  • Competency in contrast safety and administration, peripheral IVs, ports, CVLs, and PICC lines

  • Proficiency with Akumin EMR systems, PACS, and DICOM systems

  • Ability to complete at least one shift in a 30-day period

  • Ability to work in a strong magnetic field and potentially with blood/body fluids and infectious disease

  • Ability to perform the listed physical activities, including sitting, standing, walking, lifting, transferring patients, and climbing
