Summary:
Conducts procedures and tests using MRI equipment to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data.
Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 5:00pm-5:30am
Responsibilities:
1. Patient Identification - Uses professional manners and methods, verifies patient identification, obtains patient history, assists patients and family members requiring extra attention, ensures patient understanding whenever possible, and ensures patient safety. Verifies patient identification, asks and documents pregnancy status on patients of childbearing age.
2. MRI Technology - Demonstrates knowledge of MRI and cross-sectional human anatomy. Operates MRI scanners proficiently, administers MRI contrast automatically, manages disc drives, gateways, PACS, and laser printers. Maintains active ARRT or ARMRIT registration by accruing CE credits as needed. Interprets protocols, selects appropriate scanning parameters, shares knowledge with colleagues, and troubleshoots equipment and protocol issues.
3. Contrast - Administers oral and IV contrast to adult and pediatric patients following protocols, establishes intravenous lines, checks lab values before contrast injection, and determines contrast eligibility.
4. Image Transfer - Understands PACS thoroughly, transmits images to QC, EMR, EPIC, and PACS, verifies and segments images, accesses IMPAX, manages orders accurately, and maintains charge accuracy. Verifies patient identification and demographic information on images per UNC policy.
5. Other Duties - Performs tasks timely, manages scheduling, volunteers for challenging tasks, produces quality images, reviews patient charts, maintains a clean environment, documents incidents, and precepts new employees and students.
Education Requirements:
* Completion of an accredited Radiological Science program or completion within 3 months of application.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* Registered with ARRT or ARMRIT, or eligible. Provide diploma if registry eligible.
* Obtain advanced MR certification within one year.
* Register within one year and maintain certification and CE requirements.
* Maintain current HCP BLS competency.

* Relevant education, training, and experience.
