Job summary

Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM seeks an MRI Technologist for a PRN outpatient position. You will review orders, educate patients, and perform MRI procedures with attention to image quality and patient safety.

Responsibilities include preparing contrast (as allowed), monitoring patients, and documenting findings. A NM MRI license, ARRT/ARMRIT credentialing, and BLS are required, with opportunities for professional development within Lifepoint Health.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in radiologic sciences required.
• ARRT or ARMRIT registered or registry eligible in MRI.
• New Mexico license as an MRI Technologist.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire.

• Prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications as allowed.
• Monitor patient condition and respond to changes.
• Prepare equipment, select exposure factors and imaging parameters.
• Position patient and perform MRI exams.
• Document and report scan results accurately.
• Coordinate MRI examinations to ensure workflow and patient care.

We are looking to fill a PRN opening that will work on an as needed basis in an outpatient setting.

How You'll Contribute

• Reviews patient history and physician’s orders.
• Educates patients regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patients’ understanding and cooperation.
• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
• Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
• Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
• Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s).
• Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
• Enters, transmits and reports scan results.
• Coordinates MRI examination to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care and assists with the management of the workflow of the department to ensure the completion of work assignments in the absence of the MRI supervisor/team leader.
• Uses computer system to correctly document patient information: (a) patient's full name (b) patient's medical record number (c) patient's date of birth (d) examination performed.
• Demonstrates the ability to perform all necessary computer operations to ensure proper examination documentation and charges.
• Screens patients for any contraindication for MRI exam. Knows how to identify MRI compatible and non-compatible items within various patients.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have an associate degree in radiologic sciences. Additional requirements include:
