Job summary

SageWest Health Care in Fremont County, Wyoming, is seeking a MRI Technologist to perform magnetic resonance imaging in accordance with scope and standards of practice. You will prepare patients, select protocols, optimize imaging, and ensure patient safety.

This role requires ARRT registration, JRCRTE education completion, BLS, and state licensure; one year of diagnostic imaging experience preferred. The position is onsite at our Riverton/Lander facilities, with teamwork across departments.

Qualifications

  • Must graduate from an approved JRCRTE program and successfully pass ARRT within one year of graduation.
  • Current BLS certification is required.
  • State certifications/licensure as required by the state of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, relay and document orders in patient chart per policies.
  • Provide education and prepare patients for MRI procedures.
  • Select appropriate MRI protocol and optimize technical factors for safety.
  • Apply ALARA principles to minimize exposure.
  • Observe patient and machine during the procedure and report issues.
  • Postprocess images and ensure proper identification and archiving.
  • Maintain infection control in the MRI suite and equipment.
  • Collaborate with team across hospital departments.

Each offers a wide range of healthcare services, including inpatient medical services, emergency room services, surgical services, imaging services, laboratory diagnostic services, primary care, infusion services, and women’s health.

Job Summary

Performs magnetic resonance imaging in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Essential Functions
  • Receive, relay and document verbal, facsimile, electronic and/or telephone orders in the patient’s chart as permitted by state and company policies
  • Provide education and prepare patients for procedures
  • Select the appropriate protocol and optimize technical factors while maximizing patient safety
  • Apply principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self and others
  • Apply three basic principles of radiation safety: time, distance and shielding
  • Observe patient and machine during procedure and report any unexpected outcomes
  • Clean and disinfect x‑ray room and equipment as per infection control policy
  • Evaluate images for proper positioning and determine if additional images will improve the procedure or treatment outcome
  • Evaluate images for technical quality and ensure proper identification is recorded
  • Corroborate a patient’s clinical history with the procedure and ensure information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner
  • Postprocess images and data
  • Verify archival storage of exam data
  • Assist in maintaining medical records while respecting confidentiality and established policy
  • Identify and respond to emergency situations
  • Follow process for managing equipment and physical environment to ensure a safe working environment
  • Communicate issues, concerns, and opportunities for improvement to immediate supervisor routinely
  • Work cooperatively as a team member with co‑workers in all departments of the hospital
  • Apply principles of patient safety during all aspects of patient care
  • Provide optimal patient care

  • Must read, write and speak fluent English
  • Must have good and regular attendance
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Education
  • Graduated from an approved Joint Review Committee of Radiologic Technology program (JRCRTE) and is required to successfully pass the registry that is administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists within one year of post‑graduation
Licenses / Certifications
  • The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration
  • Current BLS certification
  • State certifications/licensure as required by the state of practice
Experience
  • One year experience in diagnostic imaging preferred
