Job summary

CentraState Healthcare System is seeking an MRI Technologist in Freehold, NJ. The role involves performing MRI procedures with high technical standards under radiology leadership, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining strict safety protocols.

Responsibilities include patient preparation, screening for contraindications, administering contrast as needed, operating MRI equipment, and maintaining image quality while adhering to HIPAA and hospital policies.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Radiology or graduate of an accredited radiology program.
  • BLS through AHA.
  • State RT License for ARRT candidates through NJDEP, or MR Certified through ARMRIT.
  • Minimum of 2 years working as an MRI Technologist in a hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MRI procedures generating high quality, reproducible scans per physician orders and protocols.
  • Prepare and educate patients, screen for contraindications, explain the procedure, and address questions.
  • Administer contrast agents, initiate IV access, prepare/administer contrast, remove IV catheters.
  • Operate and maintain MRI equipment, troubleshoot and perform routine checks.
  • Ensure image quality and safety adherence to hospital policies and HIPAA.
  • Communicate effectively with hospital staff, maintain attention to detail, and participate in safety standards.

Job description

Overview The MRI Technologist works under the direction and supervision of radiology leadership and Lead MRI Technologist to perform MRI procedures at a high technical level not requiring constant supervision. The Technologist assumes responsibility for the safety of their patients and colleagues in their designated work area and takes corrective action when necessary to maintain such safety. The role involves significant patient interaction, technical skill, and adherence to strict safety protocols.

Responsibilities
  • Perform MRI procedures: Generate high quality reproducible MRI scans based on physician orders and established protocols, position patients accurately and safely to capture the correct anatomical areas for diagnosis.
  • Prepare and educate patients: Obtain accurate medical histories and screen patients for any MRI contraindications, explain the MRI procedure and address any questions or concerns the patient may have, and investigate and research implanted devices as needed.
  • Administer contrast agents: Responsible for initiating intravenous access on patients, prepare and administer contrast agents, when necessary, remove intravenous catheters and apply patient dressings.
  • Operate and maintain various equipment: Including monitoring, biopsy, power injector and all other MRI related equipment. Recognize problems / malfunctions of equipment and possess the ability to troubleshoot and perform routine equipment checks.
  • Ensure image quality: Evaluate images for acceptable image quality and completeness.
  • Adhere to established safety standards, policies and regulations: Follow all MRI safety protocols and practices to protect patients and staff from any MRI related adverse events.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively and respectfully with all hospital staff inside or outside of the MRI and Radiology departments with a strong attention to detail, team-oriented, self-motivated and results driven, a desire for personal growth and readiness to identify and overcome challenges, and receptive to feedback.
  • Adheres to all hospital policies, PRIDE values, HIPAA regulations and infection prevention standards.
  • All other duties, additional responsibilities, and functions as needed and assigned.

Compensation Range: $35.00 - $59.50 per hour

The compensation above reflects the established range from CentraState Healthcare System (CSHS) for this position at the time the job was posted. CSHS considers many factors to determine compensation, including education, experience, skills, licenses, certification, and training. As such, team member compensation may fall outside this range.

Additionally, the compensation range reflects base salary and does not include extra shift rates or incentives tied to quality, productivity, etc., as applicable.
