Job description

UnityPoint Health is hiring an MRI Technologist (Job ID: 181221). This is a PRN, as needed position in the MRI department, requiring 1st or 2nd shift availability and option to work weekends. The role requires a minimum of 24 hours of work per month, four weekends per year, and two holidays per year.

Responsibilities

• Perform MRI examinations following physician orders and departmental protocols.
• Verify patient identification, obtain relevant medical history, and explain procedures to ensure patient understanding and comfort.
• Operate MRI scanners and related equipment to capture high-quality diagnostic images.
• Adhere to all MRI safety guidelines, including screening for contraindications and maintaining proper magnet room safety procedures.
• Evaluate images for diagnostic quality and collaborate with radiologists to determine if additional views or sequences are required.
• Participate in continuing education and training to maintain certification and keep current with advancements in MRI technology.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Radiology or Graduate of an accredited School of Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
• Experience: 2 years of prior MRI experience.
• Certification/License: Current Radiologic Technologist certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); Current MRI certification by the ARRT or six months supervised MRI clinical scanning experience; Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain it within three months from hire date.
