Job summary

OrthoArizona is seeking an MRI Technologist to join our radiology team. You will prepare and position patients, select imaging parameters, and perform MRI scans using multiple sequences while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

The role emphasizes MR safety, patient pre-screening, and accurate data entry. This position requires ARRT-MR certification and BLS, with preference for 1 year of MRI experience. In-house MRI capabilities support comprehensive imaging services.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited radiology or an accredited MRI program.
  • ARRT-MR certificate required.
  • BLS certification required (American Heart Association).
  • Preferred: 1 year experience as MRI Technologist.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and position patients and select appropriate parameters to produce cross-sectional MR images.
  • Perform MRI procedures using various sequences, planes, and techniques with non-ionizing imaging.
  • Conduct pre-screening, scheduling, and patient education related to examinations.
  • Enter and monitor patient data and transfer images for processing and archiving.
  • Adhere to MR safety procedures and respond to emergencies as needed.

Education

Graduate of an accredited radiology or MRI program
ARRT-MR Certificate
BLS Certification (American Heart Association)

As a MRI Technologist with OrthoArizona, you will get to:
  • Prepare and position patients and select anatomic and technical parameters accurately to produce cross sectional images of the body.
  • Perform patient pre-screening, scheduling, and education related to the examination.
  • Enter and monitor patient data, transfer images from disk to magnetic media to produce the transparency and develop film in an automatic processor.
  • Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Perform MRI procedures utilizing a variety of frequencies, planes, and techniques. This position does not utilize ionizing radiation in the performance of imaging examinations.
  • Collect pertinent patient history and document on requisition.
  • Complete pre-MRI screening questionnaire to assess suitability for magnetic environment.
  • Start intravenous access as needed and perform intravenous injections using proper technique. Understands how to treat patients with infiltrated IV sites.
  • Maintain proper oxygen therapy on patients who require oxygen. Maintain skills required to change oxygen tanks. Must be familiar with the use of masks and nasal canulae. Adjust rate of O2 flow with mask/nasal cannula according to written physician orders. Secure, transport, and secure e-cylinders.
  • Recognize and respond to emergencies and life-threatening situations.
  • Promote MR safety through education of personnel and physicians and monitor environment for potential hazards.
Qualifications:
  • Required: Graduate of an accredited radiology or accredited MRI program.
  • Certification Required: ARRT- MR Certificate
  • Certification Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1 year experience as a MRI Technologist.
