Job summary

AdventHealth in Celebration, FL is seeking an MRI Technologist to join our PRN per diem imaging team. You will perform high-quality MRI examinations, educate patients about procedures and safety, position patients, and ensure comfort and safety throughout the exam, while maintaining accurate EMR/PACS documentation.

Requirements include knowledge of MRI procedures and scanners, ability to work with diverse teams, strong patient service and adaptability to a changing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
  • Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam.
  • Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.
  • Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.
  • Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
  • Performs high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety.
  • Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications.
  • Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards.
  • Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.
  • Other duties as assigned.
