Job summary

Cleveland Clinic’s Avon Hospital is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform routine MRI exams across age groups, ensuring patient comfort and safety while leveraging cutting-edge imaging technology.

The role requires pre-procedure preparation, data review for contraindications, and image handling via PACS/RIS. Expect on-site duties 2:30pm–11:00pm with on-call; sign-on bonus up to $5,000.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• MRI/Radiology registration in good standing with ARRT/ARMRIT.
• MRI certification RT(MR)(ARRT) required within 1 year of hire.
• BLS certification through AHA/Red Cross.
• Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.

As an MRI Technologist, you will perform routine MRI exams and procedures on patients of all ages, health backgrounds and conditions. You will ensure they feel comfortable, safe and properly informed throughout the entire process, helping facilitate a welcoming and supportive experience. A caregiver in this role will work 2:30pm - 11:00pm plus call.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Prepare and check patients prior to MRI procedure.
• Acquire and review patient questionnaire, chart and data/requisition to determine contraindication of having MRI examination.
• Verify and validate patient screening safety form.
• Perform MRI procedures required per protocol and perform daily QA.
• Perform venipunctures and maintain competencies.
• Educate patients regarding MRI procedures, equipment and exam.
• Ensure patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam.
• Assist with scheduling of patients.
• Administer proper contrast related to patient having MRI exam.
• Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS.
• Complete after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
• Immediately report any malfunctions and observe potential equipment dysfunctions and report problems or calls for service.
• Maintain available equipment up-time at the highest level for patient accessibility.
• Process billing via RIS.
• Instruct and mentor new hires and Radiology students.
• Learn new technical information and skills.
• Attend in-service programs and professional affiliation sessions.
• Potentially rotate through all imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or graduate of an accredited institution per the primary pathway of the ARRT
• Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of MRI Technologists (ARMRIT) or The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT), or R.T.(S)(ARRT), or R.T.(T)(ARRT), in good standing. Or must be a Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(N) (ARRT) in good standing or be a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) through the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (ARDMS and NMTCB are primary pathways)
• Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging: R.T.(MR)(ARRT) (required within one year of hire)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross certification
• Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and related pathologic processes

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• One year experience as a General Radiologic Technologist or experience in other imaging modalities

Physical Requirements:

• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
• Requires frequent pushing and pulling of equipment up to 75 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $35.25

Maximum hourly: $53.00
