Job summary

Aiken Regional Medical Centers in Aiken, SC, seeks an MRI Technologist to operate and maintain an MRI scanner and to assist physicians with imaging needs.

You will verify exam requests, instruct patients, position them for imaging, calibrate equipment, transfer images to PACS, and ensure safety and quality standards. On-call rotations and holiday coverage may apply.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a radiological program or equivalent military training.
• Two years of diagnostic radiology experience; one year as MRI technologist preferred.
• ARRT registration, BLS certification (within 90 days), SC Radiation Quality Standards license.

Responsibilities

• Verify MRI procedure requests and instruct patients on procedures.
• Position patients and select imaging techniques; calibrate equipment.
• Obtain images, create film records, and transfer data to workstations.
• Ensure safety per policy, QA, and Joint Commission standards.
• Maintain MRI supplies and rotate to other imaging departments as needed.

Responsibilities

MRI Technologist

7am to 7:30 pm, Tues, Wed and Thur. On-call shifts required

MRI Technologist operates and maintains a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner to obtain images from patients which are used by physicians to diagnose the nature and extent of designated pathologies. Participates in the establishment of scan protocol, as appropriate.

Duties:

• Verifies written request for MRI procedures.
• Instructs patients regarding MRI procedures; prepares, positions, and manipulates patients to ensure appropriate placement for imaging.
• Selects appropriate imaging techniques, and calibrates console and peripheral hardware as required.
• Obtains images, produces film records and backups from desk to storage media, and transfers from desk to work stations as requested.
• Performs contrast injections satisfactory.
• Maintain current knowledge of MRI environmental, patient and visitor safety as defined by hospital policy, practice, ACR and Joint Commission
• Charges procedures in RMS accurately and immediately after procedure is performed.
• Sends images to PACS appropriately and verifies all are available for interpretation in a timely manner.
• Enters and monitors patient data and maintains accurate study documentation.
• Performs quality assurance on magnetic resonance equipment and procedures.
• Maintains MRI Lab supplies.
• May provide instruction and guidance in MRI procedures to staff in training as assigned.
• Demonstrates clinical knowledge and skill in the care of the newborn, infant, toddler, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.
• Ensures adherence to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, QA programs and safety standards.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
• Obtain and correctly document verbal and telephone orders per facility policy (only applies to ARRT licensed staff).
• Rotates to other imaging departments as needed; participates in holiday and on-call rotation requirements.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Education requirements: Successful completion of a radiological program or equivalent military training

Work experience requirements: Two (2) years experience in diagnostic radiology in a health care facility and one (1) year experience as an MRI Technologist preferred

Required licenses/ certifications/courses: ARRT registered, BLS (or obtained within 90 days of employment ), current South Carolina license issued by SC Radiation Quality Standards Association
