Job summary

AdventHealth in Orange City, Florida is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform high-quality MRI examinations while prioritizing patient safety. You will educate patients about MRI procedures, prepare and administer IV contrast, and ensure strict adherence to safety and regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities include room setup, equipment QC, accurate documentation in EMR/PACS, and collaboration with radiology staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required or equivalent.
• Associate degree preferred for imaging track.
• ARMRIT or RT(MR) license required or equivalent.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience in radiology or MRI training program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
• Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
• Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions.
• Positions patients accurately and comfortably using immobilization and coil placement techniques.
• Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines.
• Performs daily QC checks in compliance with policies.
• Follows protocols for patient ID, consent, and time-out procedures.
• Maintains EMR and PACS documentation.
• Performs MRI exams per physician orders to ensure image quality and safety.
• Reviews patient history to confirm exam suitability and contraindications.
• Screens for MRI safety compliance and completes screening docs.
• Operates imaging equipment including scanners, injectors, and monitors.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

• Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
• Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
• Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam.
• Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.
• Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.
• Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
• Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
• Performs high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety.
• Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies).
• Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation.
• Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.
• Other duties as assigned.
