Join Our Team as a Full-Time MRI Tech Assistant at UPMC Presbyterian!

UPMC Presbyterian is seeking a full-time MRI Tech Assistant to join our dynamic imaging team! This position involves steady night shifts (4 ten-hour shifts, 8pm - 6:30am) with rotating weekend and holiday responsibilities.

As an MRI Tech Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our staff technologists and department team members in delivering high-quality MRI services. Under the direct supervision of a certified technologist, you will assist in providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Meet patients upon their arrival to the department.
2. Assist with paperwork preparation and documentation.
3. Answer phone calls regarding scheduling, questions, and patient history.
4. Escort patients to dressing areas and assist as needed.
5. Conduct MRI screening according to established procedures to ensure safe scanning and entrance into the MRI scan room, providing the completed screening form to the technologist for review.
6. Assist with lifting and transferring patients to and from exam tables as needed.
7. Establish IV access (e.g., for contrast administration) following established procedures.
8. Assist technologists in preparing oral contrast for patients and provide patient instructions under the technologist's guidance, in line with department protocols.
9. Properly pad, position, center, and align the patient and MRI coil or CT table for accurate imaging, following established protocols under the technologist's supervision.
10. Perform telemetry monitoring during exams as necessary, if applicable, and support patient care as needed.
11. Provide discharge instructions as directed by the technologist.
12. Report equipment malfunctions to the technologist and supervisor.
13. Assist with QC functions, including daily and weekly testing according to departmental guidelines.
14. Transport patients to and from the unit when required.
15. Clean and prepare exam rooms following established procedures.
