Job summary

Newport Hospital & Health Services in Newport, WA is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform imaging procedures and ensure patient safety. You will act as the first contact for patients and help meet imaging needs while participating in CQI activities.

Responsibilities include ensuring patient safety, positioning and shielding, assessing pain, on-call duties, and maintaining aseptic technique. Certification in MRI and ARRT credentials are required.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology Program.
  • State licensure to perform diagnostic MRI exams.
  • ARRT registration with MRI credentials.
  • One year of MRI technologist experience.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
  • Strong cross-sectional anatomy knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient safety during MRI procedures and use of equipment.
  • Determine the most suitable posture and shield patients accordingly.
  • Assess patient pain and contact physician for intervention when needed.
  • Perform all aspects of patient care with safety as a priority.
  • Maintain a culture of safety and quality and participate in CQI.
  • Practice aseptic procedures and on-call duties as scheduled.

Primary scheduled hours: Days, Friday/Saturday/Sunday, (3) 12 hour shifts

Job Summary:

Performs a variety of MRI imaging procedures as applicable and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates in CQI activities.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.
  • Knowledgeable of MRI safety protocols if applicable.
  • Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.
  • Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
  • Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
  • Takes call according to monthly schedule after the closing of the regular department hours.

Education Background and Experience

Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology Program.

Required Licensure / Certifications:

State licensure that permits them to perform diagnostic MRI exams and documented training on the provision of diagnostic MRI exams.

Registration and certification in radiography by ARRT with MRI credentials and documented training on the provision of diagnostic MRI exams.

Required Experience:

One (1) year of practicing MRI Technologist experience.

Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.

Possesses a high level of knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.

Proficiency with most major MRI equipment manufacturer's hardware and software (GE, Siemens, Toshiba).

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree is preferred but not required.

  • Report to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated timelines.
  • Demonstrates the ability to adhere to the mission, ethics and goals of the District.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate with patients, guests and staff in a courteous, respectful and helpful manner.

Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation in increments increases annually.
