Job Summary

Day/Eve Hours: Tuesday-Friday 12:30p-11p at WDH in Dover, NH – Main Hospital. Sign on bonus & full time benefits eligible! Join our amazing team of MRI Technologists who work in a collaborative fast‑paced environment with a focus on safe, high‑quality patient care using our new Philips Blue Seal Magnets.

Under general supervision, the MRI technologist will safely perform magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies using a magnetic resonance imaging system. The scope of the MRI technologist includes preparing patients, positioning, setting imaging parameters, acquiring images, performing computer processing, and displaying images. The MRI technologist selects appropriate imaging protocols for patient studies and performs quality assurance scans as required. The MRI technologist demonstrates the ability to work cohesively as a team member within the MRI Department and consults appropriate content experts as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Ensure accurate patient identification and adherence to safety protocols in accordance with Joint Commission guidelines.
  • Execute MRI scans for ambulatory, inpatient, and emergency department patients, adjusting parameters to maintain diagnostic quality and managing MRI safety in complex care environments, including adult anesthesia.
  • Insert IV catheters as needed and prepare for and perform intravenous injection of MR contrast agents, including the use of the MR‑compatible power injector. Understand and communicate possible contraindications and monitor for adverse reactions; record all information regarding contrast injections appropriately in the EMR. Perform point‑of‑care testing (POCT) where applicable.
  • Instruct patients and visitors on MRI safety procedures and ensure adherence to safety policies by all persons entering the MRI area. Functions as a final checkpoint, prior to scanning, for patient safety and protocol clarification per department policy. Identify hazardous system malfunctions; secure the area and remove patients and personnel from the magnet bay during emergency situations.
  • Perform scheduled quality control procedures on the MRI scanner and other related equipment. Record QA results as required and report any potential equipment‑related problems to the supervisor as necessary.
  • Assist Practice Assistant and other department staff in various duties as necessary (i.e., scheduling and transporting patients, taking inventory, filing, etc.).
Qualifications
  • Education: Medical Imaging required or Associate’s Degree in Medical Imaging preferred. Experience in lieu of a degree is not accepted.
  • Licenses and Credentials: Magnetic Resonance Imaging (ARRT) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required OR MRI Technologist (ARMRIT) – American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists required. NH Medical Imaging License (MR)(R) required. Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Experience: 1–2 years as an MRI technologist.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Operate complex electronic equipment and instrumentation; perform quality control procedures. Transfer patients to the MRI scan table and move the table from the prep room to the exam room; lift and transfer patients to stretchers. Provide appropriate care to various age populations and may oversee students or research animals. Maintain patient confidentiality and professional conduct. Use departmental‑specific tools (EMR MRI search engine, electronic dose calculators, PACS) to confirm contrast dosing and patient safety. Work collaboratively with the local MRI leadership team to ensure smooth, efficient patient flow and optimal utilization of MRI scanners. Maintain effective working relationships and communication with all departmental staff and other hospital personnel.
