Job Opportunity: Radiology Technologist Supervisor - Specialist Team

Sign-On Bonus: $25,000 for offers accepted by June 30, 2025. Terms and Conditions apply.

Work Hours: Choose between Thursday-Sunday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, or Friday-Sunday, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM.

Position Overview

The Radiology Technologist Supervisor-Specialist Team provides day-to-day supervision for an assigned Radiology area (e.g., Diagnostic, Breast Imaging, Stony Point, CT/MRI, 3D lab). Responsibilities include overseeing STAR Service, compliance with legal and regulatory standards, clinical operations, human resources, safety & quality, customer service, leadership, and fiscal management. The role ensures all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are performed by qualified staff, of high quality, and in accordance with radiation safety principles (ALARA), ACR Guidelines for imaging practices, and MRI safety standards where applicable. Compliance with VCU and VCUHS policies is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with lead technologists and staff to resolve issues and facilitate success.
  2. Implement new initiatives, programs, and policies.
  3. Work with other supervisors, managers, faculty, and staff to promote safety, quality, and teamwork.
  4. Manage clinical functions and processes within the assigned Radiology area.
  5. Supervise, maintain, and improve business functions related to the area.
  6. Develop staff education and competencies, including educational materials and competency assessments.
  7. Provide education to team members, students, residents, and learners.
  8. Maintain technical competency in all responsibility areas.
Qualifications

Licensure and Certification: ARRT certification required; specialty registries (e.g., Mammography, CT, MRI, Interventional) are also required based on the department.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years as Lead Tech or equivalent in Diagnostic Radiology; 3 years of technical experience; leadership experience preferred.

Education: Graduation from an ARRT-recognized JRC-accredited Radiologic Technology program; Bachelor’s degree preferred; Master’s degree in related fields highly preferred.

Additional Requirements
  • Physical ability to lift 20-50 lbs.
  • Ability to handle hazardous/infectious substances.
  • Prolonged standing, sitting, bending, walking, climbing, reaching.
  • Strong cognitive skills: recall, reasoning, problem-solving, reading, writing, communication.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment, handle multiple priorities, and adapt to change.
  • Weekend and after-hours coverage may be required.
Work Schedule

Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM; holiday call required.
