Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking an MRI Supervisor Days – Full Time to manage the daily operations of the MRI division across the main campus, MOB, and Hoglund. You will oversee technical, business, and personnel aspects to ensure safe patient care and report to the Radiology Operations Manager-MRI.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, coordinating exams, ensuring equipment maintenance, handling budgets and reporting, and collaborating with physicians, nurses, residents

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology or MR Imaging program.
  • ARRT Radiography and MR certifications; BLS required upon hire.
  • Five or more years of clinical MRI experience; supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily MRI division operations across main campus, MOB, Hoglund.
  • Administer IV contrast and anticoagulants per protocol.
  • Direct and supervise all division staff and activities.
  • Ensure equipment maintenance, safety, and workflow efficiency.
  • Prepare budgets, purchasing, staffing, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with administrators to support performance improvement.
  • Coordinate with physicians, nurses, residents to optimize patient care.
  • Instruct students and residents on exams and equipment.
  • Demonstrate professional clinical and technical competencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Summary

Position Title: MRI Supervisor Days – Full Time (Bell Hospital). The MRI Supervisor manages the daily operations of the MR division at the main campus, MOB, and Hoglund. Responsibilities include oversight of the technical, business, and personnel aspects to ensure safe patient care. The role reports directly to the Radiology Operations Manager-MRI.

Responsibilities
  • Administers Gadolinium, Normal Saline, and Heparin intravenous medications using appropriate techniques.
  • Guides MRI Division activities with limited supervision, providing direction and responsibility for all staff functions.
  • Plans, directs, and supervises the activity of all staff in the division.
  • Ensures completion of mandatory educational assignments as directed by senior supervisor or assistant director.
  • Oversees the overall maintenance, evaluation, and performance of all equipment in the division.
  • Maintains an efficient, organized, and safe division workflow.
  • Prepares all reports and documentation to support the division, including budgets, purchasing, staffing, performance improvement, etc.
  • Collaborates with Department Administrator and other committees to support performance improvement activities.
  • Works with various staff—including physicians, nurses, residents—to optimize patient care.
  • Instructs students and residents on exams and equipment as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates professional, clinical, and technical competencies of the assigned unit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience

High School Graduate. Graduate of an AMA‑approved school of Radiologic Technology or MR Imaging.

Preferred Education and Experience

Five or more years of clinical MRI experience. Previous supervisory experience.

Licensure and Certification
  • Radiography (R) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) – American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
