Responsibilities

• Provides Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examinations for diagnosis and treatment.
• Schedules patients for MRI examinations and performs MRI studies.
• Explains the method of examination to patients and prepares them for imaging.
• Performs and completes routine examinations.
• Confers with radiologists to establish protocols for nonstandard examinations.
• Maintains records of imaged patients, type of examinations performed and protocols used.
• Monitors examinations by checking computations, performances, and results of the selected parameters to obtain effective diagnostic data and images.
• Administers contrast agents under guidance of the site Radiologist and reviews patient charts for lab and order information.
• Conducts screening interviews to identify contraindications (e.g., ferrous objects, pregnancy, prosthetic devices, allergies).
• Complies with safety policies and regulations, including ALARA and radiation safety.
• Operates imaging equipment within manufacturer guidelines and records data in the archiving system.
• Assists with quality control, monitors technological improvements in MRI scanning, and reports equipment or application problems.
• Maintains technical competency through clinical education and company-sponsored training and keeps certifications current.
• Cleans and sanitizes equipment and workspace and monitors imaging supplies stock for reordering.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
